I thought it was weird that my Grandpa had salt on literally everything, but after I have seen the show, “My strange addiction”, I feel like nothing is weirder. Some people eat things like glass, and they enjoy the texture. People that eat these odd things never eat it for the taste. I mean who likes the taste of deodorant, no one not even these people. They only eat it for the texture, or the consistency of the item.
In my case at least, I don't eat food unless it tastes good. But sometimes I like the texture but that is not why I am eating food. I usually eat because I'm hungry. Usually these people and the things they eat it not because they are hungry, but because they like the texture of the food. They have an addiction to the texture of an item. What is there really no kinds of food that you can find that has similar or the same consistency.
Now they have some pretty crazy different kinds of addiction, like eating deodorant, and eating lipstick, but certain things that these people ate were not digestible. Their body won't accept the things that they were eating. If they continued to eat these certain things they would end up dieing because of this substance build up. This person had eaten glass for 6 years and now she was being told this. So somehow she had to cut it off. She started to eat peanut brittle instead. It was as close as she was getting so thats what she got.
My Grandpa had an issue with eating straight salt. He also had salt with every type of food, sometimes he liked it in water. He obviously did not have as severe case than the people above but in my opinion he had an issue with salt. It also gave him many medical issues including dehydration. It made him very weak, but he couldent stop. Twoards his 40s he started to develop this issue. He had died in his sixties. So he had made through this constant dehydration for 20 years, it was not the cause of his death.
My Grandpa had this issue and had survived through it. The addiction also almost ruined his social life, he constantly looked terrible and would constantly sweat because he had to get rid of salt somehow.
